Co-op Creates Partnerships --- Walsh does a Two Step and Burke has to Create a Broadway Production for New Business

Walsh Does a Two- Step.

Burke Goes Winnetka to New York to CTC

First, some quick hits before the spotlight shines:

1. The Co-op-o-meter hits $78,000 in new and incremental business since training began in October.
2. The Baltimore Sun is going to join the Tribune co-op blog soon. And that will make the co-op blog even more exciting with additional hot programs.
3. Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that all dealers nationwide can get 100% paid co-op on multiple models of their 2009 inventory from Nov. 18th to the end of the year, up to the limit of their dealer accruals. The president-elect is in Chicago until the end of the year and a big effort marketing automobiles would certainly be a positive. Matt Bute has some additional information that could really help your sales efforts. Please see your co-op partner, Natalie Gordon or Matt Bute for more details on this program.

And now, John Patrick Walsh and Eleanor Burke, it's your turn to shine.

Walsh Does a Two Step.

John called on a local fireplace dealer, and talked about co-op. He didn't find any right away, but connected with a manufacturer's rep. He asked about dollars that wasn't being used. That's step one. He "networked with a few other dealers and the Pilgrim sales rep for the fireplace accessories firm and put together quarter pages ads in Blue resulting in $7,000 of incremental revenue in the 11th period" (Step two). This was on accessories (log holders, shovels etc). There's big co-op on fireplaces too.
And then he did the two step AGAIN!
Have you put a stone ball or triangle in your fireplace? Sounds like pet rocks. But Rasmussen manufactures them. And John followed the money to the distributor and 250,000 E-Z targets and $11,500 in incremental revenue.
And he did it again, with a power equipment dealer for $36,000 with $4,000 first time ever investment in HOY!
Way to go, John, You've got a PHD in co-op!

Eleanor Burke, it's your turn to shine. Winnetka to New York to CTC!

Eleanor used her co-op knowledge to pursue 100% paid programs like the programs in photography, focusing on Nikon.
1. She worked with Phototronics, and pointed out areas the Winnetka store might have co-op funds.
2. They discussed schedule possibilities, and worked a hundred details over the phone.
3. The retailer needed to get confirmation of his funds from the manufacturer's rep.
4. He got it. Now, talk to my agency in New York, Eleanor.
5. Back and forth... and finally New York artwork no smaller than a brand new Broadway production.
6. And another Tribune advertiser is landed. Winnetka to NY to CTC. Next up, Canon advertising!

Eleanor, thank you for your smarts, your persistence and for closing the sale! You're a co-op star!

Co-op Creates Partnerships and a $40,000 Michelin sale.

Bianca, it's your turn to shine. Bianca took $40,000 of cable money and made it $40,000 Tribune money.
Bianca knows tire dealers have co-op, and she knows there were Michelin co-op dollars she wasn't getting. So, she started a conversation, and found out all the Michelin dollars were on cable TV. In later conversations, the dealer mentioned his cable TV Michelin claims kept getting messed up. Without hesitation, Bianca said "I'll do them for you", and the dealer on the spot "verbally promised to move the $40,000 in Michelin co-op money from cable to us in 2009 because of the new co-op program." Bianca, you're an all-star!
And you can be an all-star too with tire ads for winter from
