Scotts Company supports their retailers!!!

Scotts Lawn Care is one company that owns the biggest brands of spring.
Miracle-Gro
Scotts fertilizer and seed
RoundUp
Naturescape mulches
Ortho
They spend millions of dollars to build brand awareness, and offer retailers hundreds of thousands of 100% paid advertising funds.
All you have to do is know the rules to get your share.

1. Get the authorization form signed. We'll tell you exactly to the dollar how much your retailer has to spend for each product. (Highest so far for one store: $3600; average over $2,000)
2. Prior approval of artwork is required. Send me a copy (pdf) of the ad 48 hours before the deadline, and we'll get it approved or tell you appropriate changes to get the ad OK'd. If you use Scotts ads that your CSR provides, approval is fast and easy.
The CSR have copies of the ads, and can find more at www.adbuilder.com in the ad material warehouse.
Use the money wisely with Triblocal and EZ Targets.
Traditionally, Scotts co-op advertising assistance is based upon the current fiscal year purchases from December 1 of the prior year to November 30 of the current calendar year. That means it is the co-op funds that keep on accruing. Retailer orders product, we find the dollars for your advertiser today, run smart ads, product moves through, more products is ordered, more funds accrue, run smart ads, REPEAT.

Co-op Creates Partnerships: Two Co-op accrual requests find $4,000!

Advertising Sales Team:
Great news! Two recent co-op accrual requests resulted in almost $4,000 in new Scotts co-op advertising dollars. Both are one location retailers. CTC salespeople

Garrett Bova and Ana
Keys did the important work.

Two retail salespeople brought our advertisers $4,000 in new ad funds, in this case a 100% paid program. These two advertisers were wondering if they might pay for an ad. Instead they got an ad schedule.
Could each retail salesperson do two more co-op accrual requests in the month of April? Think if the sales team brought in 1,000 co-op accrual requests, how much money could we find for our advertisers when they really need it?
  • Get the attached co-op authorization letter signed by the retailer and the manufacturer's vendor number.
That's it --- When you sent the co-op accrual request to me, you receive the new ad funds information within 72 hours. A co-op funds notice is attached (with the account information deleted, thanks to Mark Speakman in creative).
The big advertisers might know their co-op dollars. Most of the small ones don't know all of their co-op programs, and that includes most individual True Value and Ace Hardware stores that sell many products like this. Scotts (Ortho, Roundup, Miracle-Grow) is sold at hundreds of large and small retailers.
There are over 200 OTHER manufacturers attached that we can find accrual dollars for in roughly 72 hours, and results would likely be similar.
  • Get the co-op authorization letter signed and the vendor number.
Thanks again for your incredible help. It would be great to have so many requests coming in (and ad dollars going back to the sales team) that we can't keep up! Go ahead...you can make that happen!
Co-op is local retail advertising's best repeatable process - Find the ad dollars, run the ads, file the claims, get paid, get more co-op funds next year, repeat.
Below is a list of co-op accrual claims from other papers for 100 manufacturers from 2nd quarter, 2008. Ask your CSRs for co-op spec ads.

Internet Article-Based Ads Grab More Clicks

According to a new national study by Opinion Research Corporation, sponsored by Adfusion, American consumers say articles that include brand information is the type of online advertising they're most likely to read and act upon, compared to banner ads, pop-up ads, email offers or sponsored links, according to a new survey.

According to the survey, 67% of people between the ages of 18 and 24, and 56% of those making at least $75,000 per year say they are "very likely" or "somewhat likely" to read and act upon article-based advertising. Pop-up ads were least likely to be read or acted upon.

When asked how frequently they conduct Internet searches for products or services they read about in online articles, half the respondents said "very frequently" or "somewhat frequently." 69% of 18-to-24-year-olds said they were likely to conduct a search for products or services based on an article, and 57% of those making more than $75,000 per year expressed their likelihood to perform a search, says the report.

Additional data included in the survey:

  • 87% of survey respondents said they were not very likely or not at all likely to read and act upon pop-up ads
  • 56% of households containing three or more people said they are very likely or somewhat likely to read and act upon articles that include brand information.
  • 62% of households with 13 to 17 year-old children said they are very likely or somewhat likely to read and act upon articles that include brand information
  • 52% of college graduates said they conduct Internet searches for products or services they read about in online articles either very frequently or somewhat frequently

Scott Severson, ARAnet president, concludes that. "A key finding for marketers is that... more than two-thirds of the respondents between 18 and 34 said they conduct Internet searches for products or services they read about in online articles... compared to banner ads or other options, people respond better when they can read an article, evaluate it, and then decide to click through...
