There are salespeople (outside of CTMG) waiting by the phone (for good economic times to return). Superstar salespeople like Troy Buller know that new business is created, not something you wait for. He was selling to some great prospects, but the agencies told him that wasn't any business to be had in November or December for some of the accounts. Maybe in the future, but not now. He talked to his dealers and was given the same bad news.
Troy didn't get mad; he got busy. He took some hot co-op information provided by Natalie Gordon, and called on the same dealers, and then he called on the same agencies.
Magic! There was new business to be had where there was none before. And not just one account, more than one. And not just business for Chicago Tribune, there was enough for Redeye and Hoy too!
